New Horizons
CSI has been in existence for seven years. In that time,we have exceeded our expectations in changing the lives of many children who desperately need support. On the CSI website, snapshots of the children we have met, befriended and helped show just how much their lives have changed for the better through the direct intervention of CSI. For all of the children we see and meet, it is our personal connection with their lives that warms their hearts because we at CSI let them know we care about them, that we know them by name, and that we think about them when we are back home. The human connection we have experienced in places such as Burma, Kenya and Guatemala has touched our hearts and our donors’ hearts also. Witnessing the healthy physical and educational growth of the children we support has been the driving force behind our projects. We want to continue our efforts, but we need your loyal support to fulfill our goals.
Supporters of CSI have been close friends, family members and acquaintances. It is the desire of the organization to boost support and broaden the circle, through word-of-mouth and greater exposure of CSI via our web site and on-line newsletters. The recession has really hit small organizations like ours; our funding is down and our sponsors have cut back. We are all impacted by the economic downturn. Many non-profits have had to reinvent themselves, or risk folding. Children are especially vulnerable in such times. In developing countries, child labor is on the increase while rudimentary education is rapidly decreasing. This is not the time to slacken our resolve to provide some access at least to food, shelter and education.
Under the inspiring leadership of Suzy Grossman- Stephens and Roberta Raab, the board of CSI is determined to continue its effective funding for children in developing countries who have been hardest hit by the current economic crisis. Because the children we help are generally small groups, CSI’s intervention has made a significant impact on their lives. To our long- standing supporters, we want to make sure we keep in touch with you to announce our projects, our special fundraisers, and our annual giving program. To that end, we are compiling email addresses so that we can reach you more easily. If you receive this newsletter by regular mail, please contact us by phone or on our website with your email address. Through email we hope to expand our support base. We also encourage you to share our newsletters with friends you think might be interested in this organization. Just as a reminder, our mailing list is for our purposes only.
Suzy, Roberta and the board want to take this opportunity to thank you so much for the financial support you give us, for the encouragement you show by attending fundraisers, and for believing whole-heartedly in what we do for the children we serve.
